Ron originally hails from Limerick in Southern Ireland, but has lived in the UK for the last 31 years. He is married to Elaine, has 3 children and lives in North Yorkshire.
He is a qualified Mental Health Nurse (RMN). He trained at St George's Hospital in London, and qualified in 1984. Ron decided very early on that his future career lay in Health Care Management. He subsequently moved through the NHS management structure in Hospitals in London, Essex & Surrey, where he held a variety of Senior Management Posts, including Clinical Nurse manager, Sub Unit General manager, & Nursing Homes Inspector at North West Surrey Health Authority.
He moved North in 1992 to become the Director Of Elderly Care Services for an NHS Trust on Teesside, where he managed 6 hospital sites, a team of specialist Consultant Physicians & Psychogeriatricians, along with health centres and Community Nursing Services.
He moved to the private healthcare sector in the mid 1990’s, and over the years has been the Chief Executive for a number of large corporate healthcare organisations. He has operated his own care homes since 2001 when he set up a former health care group (Focus Healthcare) he sold his shares in this company in 2005. He set up Roseberry Care Centres in 2007 and owns the company jointly with his wife Elaine.
Melanie is a qualified nurse with significant senior management experience within the care home sector. She has held senior posts within Southern Cross Healthcare, Bond Care, and for the last 4.5 years has held the post of Operations Director at HC1, where she was responsible for the day to day operation of 36 care homes in the North of England.
Melanie’s focus is on providing hands on leadership and support directly to both Regional and Home Managers and will work very closely with the other Directors of Finance & HR to achieve the company’s key objectives for 2017.
Mark has many years of experience in the Care Sector. Between 1991 and 1997 he was deputy accountant for St. Andrews Homes Ltd before moving to Advantage Healthcare as Financial Controller where he briefly worked with Ron until January 2000. Between 2000 and 2007 he took a break from the care sector and was Financial Controller at Elddis Caravans, a motor-home and caravan manufacturer based in Consett, County Durham.
Mark joined Southern Cross Healthcare in March 2007 as a Senior Regional Accountant and spent almost 5 years with Southern Cross where he dealt with their specialist care division and also played a role in the financial integration of the groups various acquisitions. He joined Roseberry Care Centres as Financial Director in November 2011. He has 2 children and his interests include cycling, he recently completed a 110 mile c2c ride across Northern England, in one day, for his chosen charity, namely Crohn’s and Colitis UK. He lives near Durham City.
Leanne has over 15 years’ experience working in the retail and hospitality industry, initially in management and training roles before progressing into Human Resources in 2007. She has completed a BA degree in Humanities and is working towards full CIPD membership with an MA in Human Resource Management alongside numerous other industry qualifications.
Initially beginning her career in the North, in various management roles Leanne re-located to London, working in the recruitment industry, sourcing and placing Management and Director level appointments for the retail sector. Following this, she moved client side, working in the Human Resources departments in some of the most well-known international British retailers; Laura Ashley, Harvey Nichols and The Dune Group. During her time at these companies she provided an advisory and administrative support service to the business ensuring that optimum levels of service, efficiency, cost effectiveness and best practice were maintained in line with company policies and procedures. Leanne progressed through the ranks and later played a more integral part in the functions of the company, particularly from a Human Resources perspective.
In addition to the above she was also responsible for sourcing staff of all levels through to Director level appointments, managing the investigation and disciplinary process through to resolution, writing company policies, delivering management training and line managing the junior members of the HR team.
She currently resides in the North East with her daughter.
Hailing from Sheffield, Mark Cooper is Roseberry’s maintenance manager. He holds a lengthy background in plumbing and maintenance, starting as a plumber in 1995. In 1998 he began working for South Yorkshire Police in a maintenance role, becoming a building engineer for the department in 2008. Since 2012 Mark has held roles in facilities and estates for Roseberry, becoming Maintenance Manager in March 2015.
Mark holds a HNC certificate in Building Engineering, further qualifications in plumbing, electrical works, construction and engineering.
Mark’s experience and expertise allows him to efficiently and effectively deal with the maintenance and upkeep of Roseberry’s facilities and any health and safety concerns.
